Porterville is a city in Tulare County, California, United States located midway between San Francisco and Los Angeles; Porterville serves as the trade and cultural center for more than 120,000 people. The city's population drew dramatically as the city annexed many areas in and around Porterville.

The economy is a thriving mixture of agri-business, light industry and commercial enterprise. Local factories produce a myriad of products such as electronic instruments, health products, light filters for movie studios, precision machinery, food products, lumber and forest humus.

Porterville is the gateway to the parks for Southern California. The City has been designated as an Enterprise Zone and a Recycling Market Development Zone City. The City was incorporated on May 7, 1902, and uses a Council/Manager form of Government. In June of 1994, Porterville was the only city in California to be selected for the prestigious All America City Award by the National Civic League.
